San Antonio Car Accident Lawyer

Hit by a negligent driver? I spent years defending insurance companies. Now I use that knowledge against them to get injured Texans what they are actually owed.

The Reality

How These Cases Actually Work

Every car accident claim in Texas turns on how the insurance company evaluates three things: liability, injury severity, and future medical costs. Jacob Perez worked for those insurance companies before switching sides. He knows the software they use, the adjuster scripts, and the playbook for minimizing payouts. That is the advantage you bring to the table when you hire J. Perez Law.

The J. Perez Law Advantage

Why This Firm, For This Case

Texas is a modified-comparative-negligence state — if the insurance company can pin 51% of the fault on you, you recover nothing. Defense attorneys know exactly how to build that argument. I know because I built it for them. Now I dismantle it.

Questions We Hear Most

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do I have to file a car accident lawsuit in Texas?
Two years from the date of the accident under Texas Civil Practice & Remedies Code § 16.003. A few narrow exceptions exist (minors, delayed-discovery injuries), but waiting is almost never in your favor. Evidence disappears, witnesses move, and memories fade. Call us now: (210) 823-0047.
The other driver's insurance company offered me a settlement — should I take it?
Almost never — at least not before speaking to a lawyer. First offers are designed to close your file before you fully understand your injuries or future medical costs. Once you sign, you cannot go back. A free consultation costs nothing and takes 15 minutes.
What if I was partially at fault for the accident?
Texas uses the 51% bar rule. You can recover damages as long as you are 50% or less at fault. Your recovery is simply reduced by your percentage of fault. This is where defense-side experience matters — insurance companies routinely inflate the injured party's share of fault to push past 51% and owe nothing.
Do I have to pay anything upfront?
No. J. Perez Law works on a contingency fee basis. You pay nothing unless we recover compensation for you. Consultation is free.
What if the other driver was uninsured?
Texas requires drivers to carry liability insurance, but roughly 1 in 8 drivers on San Antonio roads is uninsured or underinsured. Your own Uninsured Motorist (UM) or Underinsured Motorist (UIM) coverage may apply. We review your policy as part of the free consultation.
